How to check DNS records using Terminal command

There is a great way to check DNS records like CNAME, NAMESERVERS, A records using Terminal command that is built in Mac OS X – great tool to use if you are experiencing issues with your domain.

First you will need to open TERMINAL on your Mac computer and then add this line of code:

Make sure that you replace the [yourdomain.com] with the domain that you would like to check.  For example – I want to check my own domain records – my domain is photom.me – the command should look like this:

The results will look like this:

Now because I want to check the www CNAME record – I have to check my domain with the www as well:

The results will look like this:

dns-terminal-www

TIP:  Your CNAME record should point to domains.smugmug.com
